About B.C. Gupta Memorial Central Library
The B.C. Gupta Memorial Central Library established on 1935, which is one of the best support services of Gurucharan University. The Central library is well equipped with modern facilities and resources in the form of books, journals, Reference books, e-journals, e-books, Manuscripts, Digital Library, etc. The mission of the Central Library is to provide information services and access to bibliographical and full text digital and printed resources to support the scholarly and informational needs of the Institutes' user community.
Introduction
In keeping with the Vision and Mission of the Institute, the B.C. Gupta Memorial Central Library and information services play a vital role in supporting, teaching and learning activities. Library is a source to get information support for course curriculum as well as for self-development of the teaching learning community. The library is an automated open access library system. The library staff aims to provide excellent services to the users.

Library Hours
Opens at 9:00 AM until 6:00 PM
Book Circulation: 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Question Paper: 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Lending Services: Monday to Saturday from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM
Library System: Open Access System where library users can browse books in the stack & issue Library Holdings. The Library remains closed on all Gazzetted holidays.

Collection Details
Books: The Library has a collection of 39500 books comprising various subjects taught in the College. Library's book collections are arranged subject wise on respective shelves.
Reference Collection: Reference collection is approximately 4000. Books available in Reference Section can be consulted within the library subject to copyright regulations reference material can be photocopied. Photocopy Service is available in the Property Counter.
Periodical Collection: The journals with professional and research orientation are subscribed by the Central library. General magazines and career guidance magazine etc. are also subscribed by library. Central Library subscribes to 07 daily newspapers in Bengali (2) and English (5) are subscribed by the regularly. Namely: Dainik Jugasankha, Samayik Prasanga, The Telegraph, The Hindu, The Assam Tribune, Employment News and Eastern Chronicle

Special Collections
North East Micro Literature Section
Central Library has unique collection on North East Micro Literatures mainly from Barak Valley region.
Manuscripts
The Library has a valuable collection of 91 manuscripts in Bengali, and Sanskrit. They pertain to the period 19th century, and are on various subjects. The manuscripts are on the subject the Mahabharata, Ayurveda, Mangal Kavya, Astrology, Puja Vidhi, Mantra, Panjika and Sanskrit Grammar. Cataloguing of manuscripts were done and time to time measures have been taken for preservation and conservation of manuscripts.
Digital Library
The digital library has been established which give access to a large number of online and CD-ROM based electronic information resources.
E-resources
We are subscribing e-journals and e-book from Inflibnet through ONOS, NLIST Programme and DELNET. User ID and Password were given to the student and faculties for accessing.

Technical Processing Services
- Writing process slip for assigning call no. for the book received from the Acquisition section.
- Assigning call no. for the book with the help of DDC Scheme and the Authority file.
- Data entry of bibliographic records of Books and reference books in the SOUL Software
- Pasting the Spine and Date labels in the book and noting the Call no. Cop.
- Class No. on the spine label and Accession no. on the date label along with the Call no.
- Arranging the library book along with other processed books to be displayed on Stack.
Journal Acquisition
- Procurement of journals
- Inviting Invoices from the Publishers/Indian Agents and processing for payment
- Tracking the supply position of Current Journals
- Sending the drafts received from the Accounts to the respective Publishers
- Sending reminders for Non-Receipt of journals
- Attending queries pertaining to journals
- Correspondence with various Publishers/Agents/Departments/Centers of Institutions
General Rules
- All books must be returned on before the due date.
- Books are required to be presented physically at the Counter for return.
- Members must replace the book if lost with latest edition along with overdue charges.
- The cost of the book will be collected if it is not returned.
- Personal books and belongings except for return are not permitted to be brought inside the Library.
- Silence is to be strictly observed in the library.
- The books are to be left on the reading table and them not to be replaced in the shelves after reading or reference.
- Book will be lent to students only for a period of 15 days.
- The (final year) students should return the books and their library cards to the library for obtaining No dues Certificate.
- Reference books were not permitted to issue.
- Books returned after the due date will be charged an overdue charge of Rs. 1.00/- per day.
- Books may be returned on all working days. Absence from the institution shall not be an excuse for any delay in returning the books.
- Books due on a holiday should be returned the next morning and no fine will be collected.
- Library books are to be used with utmost care and to be returned without any damage.
- Damaged books shall not be accepted and it has to be replaced.
- The library accepts donations of manuscripts, books, and journals etc., which are found useful to the students.
- Xerox facilities are available. Rs. 1.00 per copy will be charged for Xeroxing at Library
- Usage of mobile phones is not permitted inside the library.
- Laptop computers are allowed inside the library for reference work with books.
- Book transaction hours: between 10.00 a.m. to 04.30 p.m.
